Vikin Maritime Museum (Grandagarour 8, Reykjavik) – located in Reykjavik’s busy fishing harbor (10 minutes walking distance from the city center), this museum details the Icelandic people’s long interaction with the sea (given its dependence on maritime fishing trade for its economic survival). The main exhibitions illustrate the development from rowing boats to modern trawlers as well as describing trading vessels and routes and the construction of Reykjavik Harbor.  Beside the main exhibitions, the museum offers various visiting exhibitions. In addition, the Coast Guard Vessel Ódinn is an important part of the Maritime Museum as one of the main exhibitions. Guided tours daily at 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.  Admission: ISK 1,300 (museum), ISK 1,100 (guided tour of Coast Guard Vessel Ódinn), ISK 1,900 (museum and guided tour). Free for children under 18 years, seniors and the disabled. Hours: 11 am – 5 pm (Tuesday – Sunday)(winter); 10 am – 5 pm (daily)(Summer).
