Saga Museum (Grandagardi 2, Reykjavik) – this is perhaps one of the most family-friendly museums in Iceland (this one focusing on the country’s Viking settlement years). To recreate these moments in the most authentic way, life-like replicas of historical Icelandic figures have been created, based on descriptions found in the Viking sagas and chronicles.
Clothing, weapons and everyday objects were constructed using traditional methods passed down through the ages. The weapons were specially crafted and the wool and linen articles dyed by hand. All wooden artifacts have been treated in a way that both enhances their appearance and make them look genuinely old. All this to make the country’s history come alive. Admission: ISK 2,000 (adult), ISK 1,500 (seniors / students / disabled) ISK 800 (children). Hours: 10 am – 6 pm (daily).
