Ayuntamiento de Reykjavik

Reykjavik City Hall (Tjarnargata 11, Reykjavik) — opened in 1992, this building houses the office of the city’s Mayor, as well as other executive government offices.  Its ground floor has a information desk for visitors, web access, and a view of the lake at cafe Ondin.  Portions of the building are used to host various art exhibits.  That area also displays a giant map of Iceland — which visitors review before planning outings in other parts of the country.  City Hall faces the northern shore of Lake Tjornin, so visitors are afforded views of the local bird life.  Hours:  8 am – 7 pm (Monday – Friday), 12 pm – 6 pm (weekends).
